It had been since July of 2010 that I worked my last destination wedding. What could be better than this assignment – five nights in the Bahamas? Indeed. But here’s the thing. I kinda hate airports. Like, almost to a phobia/panic attack level. Ok, maybe not that bad, but I despise airports. I found this time, however, that it was ME calming my wife Tara as we negotiated the myriad late flights, cancellations, and horrendous “customer service” that the airlines have to offer. Still, I was very grateful to have her along. Married couples don’t always travel well and we traveled pretty well this time.
I brought Tara because a. It was Mother’s Day weekend and b. I wanted some spectacularly lit beach scenes. By the way, the FAA will allow you to carry-on an Alien Bees light unit and Vagabond battery pack, just allow yourself plenty of time to answer questions during security!
I enjoyed the project. Our villa was nice, right by the beach and a pool, but it was nothing compared to Missy and Alex’s! They had the perfect setup: just feet from the beach (perfect for our beach sessions), high ceilings and lots of windows (preparation photos) and a full-sized fridge for all the champagne! All the friends and family in attendance were very friendly and helpful… but I’m still trying to figure out why I never heard any of the Brits in attendance saying ” ‘ello govna!”. Weird.
All this beauty and romance, all set in paradise… what was my favorite moment? I kinda have to say the crab and corn chowder at Mesa Grill! That’s ok, right Missy?
So, enjoy these favorites for now and then check back in tomorrow for Missy and Alex’s exclusive website. From there you’ll view a slideshow, the Signature Print, album design and finally the proofs. It’s about a three week process, so hang in there. Get registered early under “purchase images” and you’ll be notified every step of the way.
Cheerio, govna!

Dave – Why isn’t your favorite part the steak at Mesa instead of the chowder? The steak was fantastic. Thanks for capturing all the special moments from our wedding weekend. The pictures you showed us so far are amazing and both Tara and yourself were a pleasure to be around. Thanks again. We are very lucky that you took on this project.
Missy
Thank you for the kind words! It was a fantastic steak, but that chowder was otherworldly!!! Can’t wait for you to see everything I’ve got in store for you. Get back here tomorrow for the next step…
It was such a fantastic trip. The wedding was beautiful and the pictures are looking great. Thank you so much for having us!
