UPDATE: Kat and Ben’s site is now live! Right now you can enjoy a slide show of additional images and next week check back for the Signature Print. The album design will follow, as will all the wedding proofs.
Kat was such a sweet hostess on her wedding day. She could not stop checking to make sure everyone was ok and having a good time. I lost track of how many times she asked me if I needed anything or was doing all right. Thinking of others first even on her wedding day…we truly have the best clients.
From a photographer’s standpoint, an outdoor wedding is very liberating. You don’t have to be quite so concerned about your shutter being loud and distracting, you can shoot with much faster shutter speeds and lower ISO (more image detail) due to more light, and the lack of walls gives a freedom of distance for shots that would be impossible to get with out being overly distracting indoors.
Kat and Ben went one step beyond on giving me freedom. They had their guests set up in a spiral around the center ceremony/altar area. This gave me the added benefit of allowing a full 360 degrees to photograph the ceremony. The layout also allowed me to get some parents’ reactions and compositions that are impossible with a traditional setup.
Later on in the evening, one of the last shots of the night we take is the ring shot. I never go into a wedding with the shot planned. I like to find details from the decor or venue and personalize the shot. I loved the wedding specific candy hearts that Kat found for her candy bar. So I mixed them with some wood to reflect the country feel of the venue and Kat’s flowers as the backdrop to bring in her colors. I am overly happy with the way it turned out.
One final thing. Ben, I have not forgotten your offer to try that fine bottle of whiskey 🙂
As always stay tuned to this post as it will be updated over the next month with more images, an album design, and personalized web page.
