I had a lot to look forward to for this wedding – the D’Amore is on the 48th floor of the Chase building right on Monument Circle, Downtown Indianapolis. The venue offers a modern, yet elegant space, an incredible staff and of course an absolutely breathtaking view of Indianapolis. Everything about Chad and Courtney’s special day was exceptional – the location, the decor, the food and most definitely the music. After all, it is music that brought the couple together. They had an orchestra quartet for the ceremony, and a live band for the reception – both of which did an outstanding job. I also finally got a chance to be paired with Sarah LaMar for a wedding. Loved working with her, and she captured a ton of great images!
The only less-than-ideal aspect of the day was the heat advisory issued in Indianapolis. The reported heat index for that day was a whopping 110 degrees. As a result, our plans for outdoor pictures (family formals in particular) had to be moved to an alternative indoor location. Aside from that…there were really no major bumps in the road. And this fact is largely due to the careful and thoughtful planning of Courtney and Chad’s planning team, and particularly Courtney’s best friend, Lance Connelly, who is also the Director of Strategic Events at Purdue. Sarah and I were very impressed with the detailed timeline he developed, with every single moment of the day being accounted for. In retrospect I wish we had gotten more photos of Lance…but it’s no wonder we didn’t – he was running around all day and night mostly behind the scenes!
Above all, my favorite part of the day was the couple’s dynamic. They are absolutely nothing less than crazy about each other, which is amazing to witness. I was really feeling the LOVE! Which is what it’s all about, right? AND I must mention one of the most unforgettable moments of the day, which came (almost) at the very end, was Chad’s surprise performance for Courtney on the dance floor. He sang Sinatra’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” I was behind the camera and seriously didn’t even realize until a couple minutes in that he was ACTUALLY singing it. I thought he was lip-syncing…that’s how good it was. Bravo, Chad! It was awesome!
So happy for this amazing and talented couple! Here are some initial favorites!
