Sometimes my challenges are technical. On this portrait the main obstacle was the flu. Aiden, who is 6 years old, was feeling under the weather and shy. I have learned that taking time is the key when photographing kids, so that is what we did. We took some relaxed shots in the studio, then decided to take a walk and give Aiden some space. Sure enough, working with his parents Emily and Dustin we were able to walk, wrestle, and tickle our way into some smiles.

As a graduate of 2011, I had the pleasure of having Mike Dick photograph my senior portraits. Mike is a very talented and ingenious photographer. Working with him was a blast in itself! Taking adventures of senior photographs to a whole new level. When I had brought an idea to Mike about some shots I wanted to try, he worked with it and made it better than ever. When showing my family my senior portraits they were more than pleased with his work, they believe he truly captured the “true me”, and I could not agree more!

Michael and I were so impressed with Michael Dick’s work. He took the time before to ask for our ideas and asked us to send him any pictures that would illustrate our vision. He took over 2 hours shooting pictures of us, including setting up lighting to get a perfect “Starbucks” picture, which was significant and ended up being our favorite photo. The pictures were excellent and the experience was more than we had expected from a photographer. I have gotten so many compliments on the quality of his work. We will definitely use him in the future!

Spring is here in a big way! I have had some serious studio fever from the winter. So when I went outside with Molly for her senior portraits I really tried to play up the sun in a big way, with a lot of warm glow and lens flair. While it felt great to be shooting outdoors again, what I will probably remember most from Molly’s shoot will be the bubbles.

Molly is into bubbles and brought some of her bubble tools with her. We got a few of the shots I was looking for this way, but Molly had a vision! After many ridiculous-looking (but fun!) attempts it was decided hand-blown bubbles were not cutting it. To rectify the situation, we took a small trip to the store and picked up a few totally professional, completely not little child’s toy, “Super Miracle Bubbles”  bubble guns for the bargain price of $3. Best $3 I ever spent.

The Twestival is an annual event that uses the power of twitter and social media to raise money for charity. This year the Lafayette Twestival chose to support City Foods, a local foods Co-op. Specifically the money raised was used to help out the 10th street garden that allows families and the local Boys and Girls Club to grow their own vegetables in the city at low, low cost. Five great bands played this year: Mike Reeb, J. Allen Spence, Hillary Tribbett, No Hay Banda and Gypsy Revival. We provided photography for the event. Check out the images and hope to see you there next year!

838 Sign Co are a local sign shop in Lafayette. One of the things that sets them apart are their bold designs on custom vehicle wraps. Kyle was getting some recognition for his work and needed some photos to be used in an article that was being written on him and his company. You can see why he is being recognized when he is so passionate about what he does. Kyle is not only a fantastic business man but just a genuinely nice guy. He deserves every bit of success he has received.

The Davis Family can be described in one word. Spunky! The magic started when I asked Colby, the youngest member of the family, to strike a pose for me. I would then say “switch!” and wapow! he would strike a brand new pose for me to shoot. Colby’s sister Janelle then followed and was able to give me some serious sass. The whole shoot was a riot. We laughed the entire time. Capturing personality like this is what I have always prided myself on. I’m sure after you see these images you will know how much fun the Davis family can be.
